Janet Keefe
" My pots explore relationships between volume and movement, balance and tension,
interior space with external surface."
" Mes vases explorent les relations entre volume et le movement, l'equilibre et la tension,
l'espace interieur et la surface exterieure."
Currently Janet's work is developing in two areas of ceramic art.
The first area remains her distinctively "curvaceous" coiled pots which are Raku or smoke fired.
These pots require firing outdoors; consequently; they are in the gallery in early summer until the end of winter.
This work is well known to visitors to "Farfelu"
The second area is slab buiding then using cone 6 stoneware glazes. These pots are designed to be containers for "IKEBANA". Janet is a student of this Japanese floral art, and as her knowledge and skill as an arranger develops, so does her abilty to design exciting containers for other practitioners.
These pots are made and fired during the winter, and are shown in the gallery in the spring.
Janet Keefe will have pots designed for Ikebana arragements, also suitable for western styles, displayed in the gallery in April and May.
She will not be participating at 1001 Pots this summer as she is taking a sabatical and reseaching new surfaces for her coiled pots. The results will be seen in the Gallery in June.
